The Readiness Center provides pre-school programs for area children, after-school programs, and parenting programs. The Readiness Center often needs volunteers for specific things such as assisting children in class and helping parents with home economics and crafts. Please call to find out if you could volunteer in some way.

The Center provides a caring Christian presence to the people in the Benton Harbor area. Its community outreach services provide information, personal support and assistance with utilities, food, medicines, limited transportation and other basic needs. (We write MEAP grants for heat & electric help yearly.)
The Center also provides a rainbow of educational/social opportunities for its guests: one-on-one computer education; Grief Group in partnership with Lori’s Place; GED tutoring; financial literacy classes; health monitoring; creative, healthy food recipes; luncheons for grandmothers; conversations on valuing and choosing for life changes; and a variety of speakers on issues facing the BH community.
Please continue to pray for us as we strive to be faithful stewards and extensions of your care in the Mission of Jesus to those we serve in Benton Harbor. God bless us all!
Together with area Catholic Churches, we share the good news with our neighbors at the annual Berrien County Youth Fair.
This ministry serves those who are incarcerated in Berrien County Jail. Volunteers are there to assure them that they are not forgotten by the Catholic Church. Prayer services and ministering are done once a week. Ministers also participate in the training session of the Forgotten Man Ministries which supply chaplains to many jails. Those interested in this ministry call the Parish Office.
SS. John & Bernard Parish provides volunteers for the Soup Kitchen on the 1st Friday of every month and the 4th Monday of every other month. Call the Parish Office for more information or you can call the Soup Kitchen at (269) 925-5457 , located at 233 Michigan St., Benton Harbor, to see what other opportunities there.
SS. John and Bernard Parish participates with Habitat for Humanity on a build every year. Linda Wendholt helps to lead the project. Call the Parish Office for more information.
